The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at NTU provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out research in key areas. The research will involve a substantial level of collaboration.

School of Materials Science and Engineering invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.

Key Responsibilities:

The Research Fellow will be involved in investigating the accelerated development of high-strength soft magnetic materials for manufacturing. In particular, soft magnetic materials will be prepared by additive manufacturing and thin film techniques. Subsequent characterization of these materials by x-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, and property evaluation by mechanical property techniques will be carried out.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Materials Science or relevant fields
  • Technical expertise in x-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and thin film processes
  • Good knowledge in mechanical behavior of materials such as failure analysis
  • Expertise in preparing samples by thin film techniques and characterization using x-ray diffraction, electron microscopy techniques
  • Competency in mechanical property evaluation and use of probe station

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
