Programme Summary

In conjunction with Workforce Singapore, NTU offer traineeships to support the SGUnited Traineeships Programme.  ​The Traineeships are part of NTU's efforts to create relevant and meaningful traineeship opportunities for our nation’s new graduates entering the workforce during this difficult time.

About the Department

SASD is a central university department responsible with both a strategic and operational role in the delivery of student and academic services. It provides leadership for and is an integral and central part of the Student and Academic Services (SAS) Community. Together with SAS colleagues in schools, colleges and autonomous institutes, we provide a broad range of student and academic services for faculty, staff and students.

The Registrar's Office, SASD is responsible for two rites of passage ceremonies in university life – the Freshmen Welcome Ceremony, and the Convocation Ceremony that celebrates and marks the achievements of our graduates as they leave the hallowed portals of the University, ready for the world.

Job Description

Support the office in the preparations leading to and during the events, including but not limited to:

  • Coordinate with various offices, departments and schools on the timely execution of the events preparations;
  • Coordinate with external vendors on the timely provision of events logistics;
  • Prepare event registration, e.g. online registration system;
  • Setting up of IT equipment for event, e.g. laptops for registration;
  • Sourcing for events’ collateral;
  • Oversee the scheduling of events rehearsals and provide assistance during the set-up, e.g. performance rehearsals before events;
  • Assume designated roles during actual events, e.g. event marshal;
  • Handle enquiries from stakeholders;
  • Post event analysis, e.g. after action review; and
  • Perform other administrative tasks and support activities
  • IT Improvement Projects including Improve Name Display System; and
  • Improve Event Registration System

Requirements

  • Polytechnic diploma or professional qualifications
  • Highly adaptive and flexible to react to unexpected situations on the ground
  • Creative and have problem-solving skills
  • A people person with service-to-others orientation
  • High-stress tolerance
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Good time management and able to prioritise tasks
  • IT savvy
  • Good communication skills
  • Skilled in MS Office, especially for Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Willingness to work after-office hours during events

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
