Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Department of Urban Planning and Design (Ref. 500477) of the Faculty of Architecture, to commence on 1 August 2020 or as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to performance.

Applicants should possess a strong master’s or doctoral degree and professional qualification in urban planning and preferably also in urban design. They should have at least seven years of practical experience in urban planning in Hong Kong, and at least two years of part-time or full-time teaching experience in planning at tertiary education institutions.

The appointee must be proficient in Hong Kong’s existing planning system, laws and the latest practices, including the use of, e.g., ICT, online tools, social media, open data and planning software in planning consultation and planning/design projects of different spatial scales. He/She will teach urban planning and design studios and urban planning-related courses of postgraduate and undergraduate degree programs. He/She is expected to bring in the latest professional practices and trends to the Department and teaching programs, keep good connections and engagement with the industry including participation in planning practice projects, and be able to nurture students’ practical skills, analytical thinking and professional ethics. He/She will also perform other duties as assigned by the Head of the Department.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
