  • Full-time, 3 years fixed-term with a base salary of $74K to $101K p.a., plus leave loading and up to 17% superannuation.

About the opportunity

As the Postdoctoral Research Associate you will design, conduct and analyse experimental (animal) studies that are aimed to explore the association and mechanisms involved between oral and general health with a special focus on diet and the oral/gut microbiota. 782/0620F

As a Postdoctoral Research Associate you will be a key member of the team supporting research projects which explore the link between oral and general health i.e. this includes diabetes, cardiovascular disease, adverse pregnancy outcomes and mental health.

This role will interact with researchers and clinicians of multiple backgrounds and various stakeholders from multi displinary backgrounds.

This is an exciting newly created full time opportunity to work closely with Professor Joerg Eberhard  and the team aiming to solve complex issues related to oral health and general health.

As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate who can demonstrate the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • A PhD or equivalent degree in medicine, biology or chemistry or a closely related discipline (must be finished before application)
  • Experience in animal (rodent) experiments
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques, including qRT-PCR, RNA/DNA sequencing, immunochemistry
  • Experience in data analysis and biostatistics including the use of statistical packages
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and across disciplines
  • The ability to supervise HDR students working in the project Candidates willing and capable to apply for Scholarships and funding aimed to develop an independent research group will be preferred
  • Candidates who in addition demonstrate experience in clinical trial management, clinical trial design will be preferred.
