About the Thomas More Law School

The Thomas More Law School is one of Australia’s most dynamic Law Schools, with campuses in North Sydney and Melbourne, expanding to Brisbane and Blacktown in 2021.  Our aspiration is to be a national Law School with strong international links facilitated by an existing international network of Catholic law schools and an active presence at ACU’s Rome campus.

The School’s Law programs are global, ethical and practical in focus, built on our commitment to the rule of law, personal dignity, thriving communities and the common good. About the Position

The Faculty of Law & Business is seeking to appoint an exceptional Dean with demonstrated capacity to provide strategic leadership to enable the School to achieve its goals in alignment with Faculty and University priorities.

Reporting to the Executive Dean, Law & Business, the Dean, Thomas More Law School will be responsible for the development and implementation of a clear vision and strategic plan for the Thomas More Law School to enable it to develop and maintain a strong identity and a clear academic direction, contributing to the achievement of University and Faculty objectives.

This appointment will be as a full-time, continuing Professor with an academic assignment as Dean, Thomas More Law School for three (3) years, renewable based on performance. A salary allowance applies for the term of the assignment.

To be successful in the role you will need to demonstrate:

  • A PhD qualification in a Law or related discipline, coupled with a significant teaching and research profile
  • Excellent scholarly qualifications and an internationally recognised record of academic and scholarly achievement in a Law discipline
  • A successful track record of senior academic leadership including budget planning, governance and risk and resource allocation
  • Strategic leadership and operational management skills to confidently implement strategic initiatives at a Faculty and School level
  • An excellent grasp of the tertiary education sector in Australia, and sound appreciation of the demands of managing and advancing a contemporary School in a rapidly changing environment.
