Job Description Summary
The Periodontics Research Laboratory Technician will assist the research project manager by performing complex laboratory maintenance tasks and other laboratory projects, as assigned. Will assist senior-level researchers on various supervised research projects within the lab. Will carry out routine tasks, such as preparation of media and reagents, ordering supplies, inventory maintenance, and placing lab equipment in their designated areas at the end of the day. Will gather data from experiments, complete data entry, and analyze data in collaboration with Principal Investigators and postdoctoral researchers, with the intent of presenting research results in laboratory meetings.
We are looking for a self-motivated, inquisitive, ambitious, and enthusiastic person who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can interact well with others as part of a team. This position will involve a combination of independent and team-driven research projects, as well as providing lab management assistance under the direct supervision of the research project manager.
- Perform molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, immunofluorescent staining, and immunohistochemistry)
- Isolate and stain cells for flow cytometry
- Analyze flow cytometry data under the supervision of a senior investigator
- Collect and process tissue samples from murine models
- Opportunities exist to actively contribute to research projects as a co-author and present data at lab meetings and research symposiums for interested candidates
- Conduct scientific literature searches
- Other duties may include, but not limited to: record data and analyze results; maintain inventory of frozen cell stocks and plasmids; prepare laboratory reagents and maintain equipment; oversee animal census; support general lab management
Bachelor's , with 0-1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
