Job Description Summary

Responsible for the overall financial management of the Grant portfolio and other financial matters of the School/Center. Will manage proposal development, budget development and related pre-award activities for diverse sponsor portfolio. Manage post award activities including account set up, monitor and review of all sponsored projects expenditures including fund projections. Monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines and meet with Principal Investigators to discuss and advice on any financial issues related to their portfolio. Will actively participate in specific projects and will be greatly involved in a more complicated grants including training grants and program project with multiple sub-contracts. Supervises Grants Coordinator, assign and oversee work activities, evaluate performance, participate in decision-making related to potential hires, salary increases and terminations.

This position reports to the senior administrator within department and has a dotted reporting line to the PSOM Office of Research Support Services.

Job Description

Grants Manager A: Provide pre- and post-award research and financial administrative support for individual investigators within the Systems Pharmacology Department. Monitor grant expenditures for compliance and take/recommend corrective actions as needed; work with payroll coordinators, purchasing and accounts payable to ensure appropriate expenses are allocated to grant funds. Produce and distribute specialized research-related financial reports for investigators. Advise department faculty on extramural, university and school research administration. Manage post award activity for department in accordance with university policy. Act as liaison to the University Office of Research Services and PSOM's Office of Research Support Services. Act as Penn ERA Research Support Provider and assist in preparation and submission of Research Inventory System (RIS) and effort reports.

The Grants Manager B will work independently and will actively participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission. Responsible for supervising and training the Grants Coordinator.
