The SFU community includes more than 30,000 undergraduate students, 5,700 graduate students, 2,900 faculty and staff, and over 155,000 alumni. SFU is consistently ranked among Canada’s top 15 research universities by leading university ranking organizations and has been ranked by Maclean’s Magazine as the number one comprehensive university in Canada for 10 of the last 11 years. SFU has increased its research income more than 2.5 fold over the last 15 years, having surpassed $100 million in 2013 and reaching $161 million in 2019.

The Vice-President, Advancement & Alumni Engagement, reporting to the President, is responsible for providing strategic and inspired leadership to the University’s fundraising and alumni relations functions. The Vice-President is a key member of SFU’s executive team and shares leadership in all aspects of the University’s mission and priorities as articulated in the Strategic Framework and associated plans.

As the ideal candidate, you will have executive experience leading fundraising and/or alumni engagement for a university or parallel, not-for-profit organization. You have provided strategic and inspired leadership in the visioning, development and execution of a comprehensive fundraising campaign and facilitating change management. Through strong people skills and respect for diversity, inclusion and reconciliation, you are a proven relationship- and community-builder with the vision and strategic skills necessary to advance SFU’s academic mission, nationally and internationally through fundraising and alumni engagement efforts.
