Job Description Summary
Research Specialist A:
The Translational Neuropathology Research Laboratory’s (TNRL) mission is to increase the knowledge concerning the cause and cure of neurodegenerative disorders. TNRL is recruiting for a Research Specialist to assist with neuropathology research on the chronic effects of traumatic brain injury on the human brain. Primary duties include participation in histologic analysis, pathological diagnosis, and digital histologic image archiving of human brain tissues using established and novel methods such as immunohistochemical techniques for independent analysis of tissue sections and optimization of antibody staining. Other duties include microtomy, microscopy, tissue DNA extraction, database use, equipment troubleshooting, inventory management and providing other duties necessary for the day to day operation of TNRL. Active contribution to scientific projects through data organization and analysis is required. Must be able to work independently regarding task assessment and time management and be able to manage and organize data in an efficient and accurate manner. Candidate will be expected to attend and present at regular laboratory meetings and take part in activities of the laboratory.
Research Specialist B:
In addition to above duties, the research specialist B will be responsible for performing quantitative image analysis of histologic images and analysis of molecular data for integration with findings in collaboration with personnel from other laboratories.

Qualifications:
Research Specialist A:
Bachelor's Degree and 0-1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Research Specialist B
Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of experience or and equivalent combination of education and experience required.
