The Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group for young researchers from Engineering, Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, co-financed by the Friedrich and Elisabeth Boysen Foundation and the Technische Universität Dresden, is offering a

postdoc scholarship

starting as soon as possible for a period of 2 years with the possibility of an extension for further 2 years. The remuneration is based on the DFG Personnel Rates 2020.

The interdisciplinary Boysen-TU Dresden-Research Training Group Mobility in Transition - Challenges and solutions for technology, environment and society consists of four clusters, into which this postdoc project should be integrated.

Postdoc project on Mobility in Transition

with a transdisciplinary perspective and an otherwise Open Topic

As part of the advertised position, a question is to be dealt with scientifically that approaches the change in mobility from a transdisciplinary perspective. The topic is thus far undefined and should be proposed in concrete terms and written form by the applicant. It should meet the following criteria:

  • Practically relevant aspects of changes in the mobility sector should be scientifically examined.
  • A relevant research gap should be closed.
  • Perspectives from STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and humanities and social sciences should be connected.
  • The project is intended to support the doctoral projects being researched in the Research Training Group, which are from different disciplines.
  • The project should contribute to the integration of the four clusters of the Boysen-TU Dresden Research Training Group.
  • It should either deal with a problem from a transdisciplinary perspective or focus on transdisciplinary research itself.

In addition, the postdoc will take on tasks related to the academic guidance of the doctoral students, the supervision and preparation of interdisciplinary publications, as well as internationalisation duties. The postdoc project will expand international contacts with the Aalto University of Helsinki, the ETH Zurich, the TU Delft, and the Universitat Politecnica Barcelona and significantly increase the international scientific visibility of the research group. If you have any questions, please contact the Managing Director, Frau Dr.-Ing. Anna Martius: anna.martius@tu-dresden.de

Applicants, who have already received their doctorate, are expected to have competitive final GPAs and a high level of willingness to undertake interdisciplinary work and research. Common rooms will be made available. Accepting the scholarship obliges your presence in the research group’s offices.

Applications from women are particularly welcome. The same applies to people with disabilities.

Please send your application including a project proposal of a maximum of 3,000 words with a letter of motivation, curriculum vitae, copies of academic certificates or other relevant qualifications (language certificates, further training) and a max. 10-page sample text (e.g. thesis or publication) until 31.07.2020 (stamped arrival date of the university central mail service applies) with the subject "Boysen-TUD Dresden-Graduiertenkolleg" preferably via the SecureMail portal of the TU Dresden (https://securemail.tu-dresden.de) as a single PDF document to boysen-grk@tu-dresden.de. Alternatively, applications can also be sent to the following address: TU Dresden, Boysen-TU Dresden-Graduiertenkolleg, Frau Dr.-Ing. Anna Martius, Helmholtz-str. 10, 01069 Dresden, Germany. Please submit copies only, as your application will not be returned to you. Expenses incurred in attending interviews cannot be reimbursed.
