DATA SCIENTIST
(ref. BAP-2020-454)
ACHG trains medical students and general practitioners and offers support to all health care actors. ACHG conducts excellent, relevant research. We can count on an interactive network in order to play our part as a leading and innovative partner in primary care in Flanders. We aim at good quality and respectful care for patients in a healthier society.
Project
The Intego project has a large database as the result of continuous data recording in a network of general practice centres since 1994 (5.000.000 diagnoses, 49 million labresults, 18.800.000 medication prescriptions and 900.000 vaccination data).
Within the Intego database we are facing important methodological challenges. The Intego data allow modelling the complexity of the general practice. This means complex analyses with time-dependent covariates, informative time points, multiple outcome measures and determinants (parameters, polypharmacy), and multimorbidity. Furthermore, we will enrich our data with health insurance data, hospital data, environmental exposure data and patient experience data. This opens a lot of possibilities to explore new data mining and machine learning techniques.
Profile
We are looking for PHD candidates with qualifications in data science with a special interest in complex and longitudinal data. You have experience in working with SQL and statistical software (SAS, Python, R…). You are interested in epidemiology. You are interested in attending a doctoral program. You have good (English) writing skills and oral communication skills.
Offer
We offer a PhD fellowship for 4 years.
You will be working on the maintenance of the Intego data architecture. You will use datamining and machine learning techniques and link the Intego database with other databases (insurance data, hospital data, environmental exposure data, patient experience data)
You will communicate with technical partners (EHR developers, data warehouse…), work in a multidisciplinary environment with clinicians, statisticians and epidemiologists, report results in national and international journals and present them at congresses. You will write a doctoral thesis.
