The University of Bristol’s Department of Anthropology & Archaeology is seeking to appoint a 1.0 FTE Lecturer in Social Anthropology for a fixed term of seven months from 1st August 2020 until 28th February 2021. The postholder will be expected to contribute to the co-ordination, delivery and assessment of high-quality teaching in social anthropology. You will have a broad knowledge of social anthropology and you should be able to teach across the curriculum at both undergraduate level and postgraduate levels. You will be asked to deliver units including lectures and seminars (online and in person); mark student assessments and give appropriate feedback; supervise and mark undergraduate dissertations; provide pastoral support to students; and contribute to the administrative functioning of the Department.

The Department offers the following degree programmes: BA Anthropology, BA Anthropology & Archaeology, MArts Anthropology with Innovation, MA Anthropology, MPhil and PhD. Your teaching duties will include directing and delivering three units at undergraduate and MA level.  Expertise in social anthropological theory and methods; the anthropology of gender and childhood would be an advantage.

You will also be required to provide seminars/tutorials in two social anthropology units, and you will be expected to contribute to team-taught mandatory units at both undergraduate and MA level.
