Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Vice Dean - Director of Admissions, the Associate Dean of Evaluation and Analysis will be responsible to develop an analytical framework to inform and assess the effectiveness of the range of recruitment, selection and yield initiatives undertaken by the Office of Admissions. The Associate Dean will lead the evaluation process that fairly and efficiently evaluates individual applicants in the context of their personal experiences while meeting the University’s enrollment objectives across Penn’s undergraduate schools. The Associate Dean will be responsible for the management of staff who will help support her/his efforts in research and analysis as well as responsibility for the recruitment of students from a geographic region. The Associate Dean will also serve as a liaison to university and external offices responsible for research and analysis.
- Working closely with the Dean, Vice Deans, and others, the Associate Dean will lead the research, analysis and modeling of internal processes to inform year round planning of recruitment, selection and yield;
- Working closely with the Vice Dean, Director of Admission, the Associate Dean will lead the evaluation and selection process, including recommending policies and processes to enhance and evolve our procedures. Will contribute to the management and logistics associated with the evaluation and selection process;
- The Associate Dean will inform the design of a recruitment plan for a designated geographic region;
- The Associate Dean will manage, supervise and support 3-5 staff members who report directly to the Associate Dean.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, graduate degree preferred, and at least 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will have direct experience in a higher education setting and a demonstrated track record in analytical research and analysis, preferably in selective college admissions and recruitment. Knowledge of topics relevant to higher education and selective admissions is essential. Previous supervisory experience is preferred. Strong communication, public speaking and interpersonal skills required. Familiarity with computer applications and general information management required. Experience with dossier and candidate assessment is important. Demonstrated ability to prioritize projects in a high volume and timeline driven process. The job requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
