EVALUATION RESEARCH ASSOCIATED-Lab, to join a sponsored research project that is developing a Realist-informed approach to evaluating changes in capacities for local innovation in communities facing development challenges in the global South. Will provide data collection, data analysis, instrument design, and other research support to the study’s principal investigator (PI). Responsibilities include implementing and coordinating field research associated with the study, including field testing various data collection and assessment instruments and implementing a pilot evaluation utilizing the methodology developed through the project. Will also document the research process, analyze data sets using qualitative and quantitative methods, and contribute to the creation of project reports and written outputs. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED bachelor’s degree in a social science field related to international development; proven ability to successfully execute time-bound, field-based research projects involving data collection and analysis from people in rural and/or marginalized communities in the global South; strong project management skills; excellent follow-through; ability to write and speak effectively in English and Spanish; and ability to create and maintain rapport and effective working relationships with people in diverse positions. 

PREFERRED: advanced degree with a focus on international development and/or evaluation, experience field-testing research or evaluation instruments, and at least one year of professional and/or academic experience implementing on-experimental evaluations of development-related projects. Job #18755

Salary range:  $55 - 65,000

This is a 1.5 year appointment with an option to extend pending funding availability.

The position will initially be remote but subsequently based in Cambridge, MA, pending a decision to resume in-office work at D-Lab. Once international travel for MIT research staff is permitted and advisable, travel is estimated at up to twenty-five percent (length of trips varies based on project responsibilities), with a focus on Latin America.
