This role is for a postdoctoral research associate to work within a leading translational eye research group. The postholder will be involved in the development and application of protocols for electrophysiological recordings of retinal responses from retinal explants and stem cell derived retinal organoids as well as animal models. The postholder will use these protocols to analyse animal and organoid models of disease prior to and in combination with ocular gene and cell therapy protocols. In addition, the postholder may be required to participate in other projects within the group and will design and execute experiments independently or in collaboration with other group members.
The postholder will have a strong background in neuroscience especially vision and visual perception. S/he will have expertise in electrophysiology, calcium and voltage sensitive dye imaging, intra-cellular and extra-cellular electrophysiological recording methods as well as in vitro ganglion cell recordings using MEA and in vivo visual cortex electrophysiology and fluorescence imaging. Expertise in computer programming is essential.
This post will be offered as a fixed-term contract.
Fixed-term contract for 2 years.
