Lead and manage Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute programs or functions under minimal supervision. The Project Manager reports to the Director for Planning and Operations. The Project Manager is responsible for Wu Tsai Neuro’s community-building programs, including (but not limited to) the seminar series, symposia, biennial retreat, and faculty searches. The Project Manager is also responsible for institute research grant application, selection, and post-award processes. This position is an excellent opportunity for a PhD in neuroscience or a related scientific discipline seeking a career in administration of programs that enhance neuroscience research.
The Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute aims to unlock the mysteries of the brain and behavior through (1) cultivating a cross-disciplinary community of researchers focused on neuroscience questions and applications, (2) funding team-based research projects in NeuroDiscovery, NeuroEngineering and NeuroHealth, and (3) creating neuroscience community labs with infrastructure and essential scientific expertise to further neuroscience research at Stanford University.
- Lead the planning and execute operations for programs or functions that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise. Ensure key deliverables are met on time and on budget.
- Evaluate programs or functions, policies and procedures. Identify issues, and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures.
- Review and analyze trends to advise and develop recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of the program or function.
- Represent the program or function within the department, unit or school. Work directly with faculty committees and other key stakeholders to develop and deliver institute programs. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. Represent the program or function at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
- Manage and contribute to the development of outreach strategy that may include relationship development, communications and compliance. Compose and deliver timely, accurate and professional program communications via email, website, print and other media.
- May develop and/or oversee budgets; manage finances including monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting.
- Assess training needs and may develop associated training.
- May direct and/or supervise staff.
Minimum Requirements Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. PhD in neuroscience or a related scientific field preferred.

- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Strong relevant subject matter knowledge (neuroscience or related field).
- Ability to direct the work of others.
Certifications and Licenses
- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
- Occasionally use a telephone.
- Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
