Penn Engineering Online Learning is looking for a talented higher education professional with experience in graduate-level student affairs and advising. The Student Affairs Coordinator supports students that are enrolled in at-scale online graduate degree programs through the full course of the program from acceptance through graduation.

Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Affairs & Recruitment, the Student Affairs Coordinator will join a collaborative team that is continually innovating and streamlining processes in a positive and dynamic work environment. The Student Affairs Coordinator supports students through the full course of online graduate programs from acceptance through graduation. The Student Affairs Coordinator is responsible for fostering student success and retention by tracking student progress, advising students and serving as a resource for the course teams. Additionally, the Student Affairs Coordinator develops and implements community engagement initiatives such as virtual and in-person events. 
Manage day-to-day communication with degree students via email, phone and video-conferencing in an warm and professional manner ensuring all correspondence is addressed within 24 hours of receipt; advise students on curriculum, program policies, time management, etc. Connect students to on-campus resources as needed.

Onboard new students: assist with initial account set-up, mail welcome packets, etc. Develop and maintain online resources for students such as: onboarding course, graduation course, supplemental resources.
Track and maintain student records by processing course and program-level petitions, register students for courses and perform degree audits.
Promote community engagement with various efforts including but not limited to: coordinating online seminars, monitoring and seeding student Slack workspace and LinkedIn group, coordinating in-person meet-ups and annual events such as Homecoming and Commencement, supporting online clubs.

Monitor student success at the course and program levels by tracking multiple data streams. Specifically, participate in reporting process, provide just-in-time and ad hoc data updates, regularly review and analyze data and share findings with leadership. Follow all privacy and confidentiality policies. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s in a related field strongly preferred, and a minimum of two years of experience, preferably in student affairs or advising, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills, positive attitude and attention-to-detail
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing large student events 
  • Comfortable working with, analyzing, interpreting and reporting on data
  • Experience with admissions and/or student data systems strongly preferred
  • Basic Excel skills such as sorting and formulas
  • Proficient with GSuite and Adobe Acrobat​
