This post is being created in-line with an intention to develop and extend the existing Welsh-medium provision available within the BSc (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy programme.  This will include the provision of new modules, previously not offered in Welsh, which will mean more opportunities for students to be taught and assessed in Welsh.  This will also include increased in-house and practice-based clinical education that will allow students to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the needs of Welsh-speaking patients/service users and their families.

The post-holder will be a part of a wider community of academic staff at Cardiff Metropolitan University and throughout Wales who are working towards the realisation of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s goal to embed the Welsh language as an intrinsic part of the pattern of lifelong learning for the people of Wales.  He/She will play a key role in the implementation of the Coleg Cymraeg’s Health Professions Subject Plan where there is a focus on the development of graduates who have the skills and capabilities required to meet the needs of the patients and service-users, including being able to communicate and interact with them in their chosen language.
