Applied Psychology at Cardiff Metropolitan University is looking to appoint a member of staff to support planned changes in skills training in foundation and undergraduate provision. The successful candidate will become part of close-knit and professional team. We are seeking to appoint someone with a keen interest in Learning and Teaching.
In particular, we are looking to appoint someone who can help develop students’ academic and employability skills development and contribute to the provision of lectures and act as a module leader. The postholder will have experience of FE and HE, and with a keen interest in health and wellbeing, with a background from any area of the social sciences, and will demonstrate a firm commitment to all aspects of learning and teaching, especially being able to support students to develop skills and confidence from foundation in preparation for undergraduate programmes across the University’s Social Science portfolio. The postholder will have experience of supporting learners from diverse backgrounds, and be willing to take on pastoral support duties. The successful candidate will also be able to show how they will adopt a range of teaching and learning strategies to enhance students understanding of the topic and develop their digital literacy, using blended learning techniques. The post holder will contribute to modules across our Foundation programme and may help supervise students on placements in a range of partner settings.
The post holder will be required to work closely with colleagues in Applied Psychology and across the School, and will contribute to foundation level teaching across the School and University. The post holder will have a flexible approach and be interested in supporting students throughout their academic studies from Foundation Year onwards.

Essential Criteria
A good honours degree
Doctoral qualification
Ability to achieve Fellow Status as part of the Higher Education Academy’s Professional Recognition scheme, within agreed timescales (as soon as is practicably possible and definitely within three years of commencement of employment).
Lecturer
A good level of knowledge relevant to the subject and professional area.
A sound understanding of pedagogy.
A sound understanding of research/innovation and scholarly activity.
Ability to develop teaching and/or research programmes and the provision of learning support.
Ability to design teaching and learning material.
Ability to employ appropriate assessment methods.
Ability to identify areas for improvement and to use initiative and problem-solving skills to improve performance.
Ability to communicate and disseminate complex and conceptual ideas in a variety of ways – presentations at conferences, reports on findings, publications, feedback etc.
Experience of HE teaching or equivalent.
Experience of providing academic leadership and first line support/mentoring for other colleagues.
