Job Summary

The Research Assistant will work in two areas of a dark matter research group.

Job Duties

In the first, detector development, the Research Assistant will contribute to work in the group to develop an architecture that uses kinetic inductance detectors (KIDs) to sense phonons from particle interactions in a substrate, which is a promising path for extending the mass reach of dark matter searches to 1000x smaller masses than currently accessible. The Research Assistant will work on detector design, fabrication, testing, and analysis/modeling, including work on implementing more sensitive readout electronics. In the second, the SuperCDMS SNOLAB experiment, this person will support the group’s responsibilities on the construction and commissioning of the experiment, likely with a focus on procedures for installation of the detector payload.

Basic Qualifications

  • Undertaken graduate dark matter research and experience working with collaborators on related projects.
