A Research Assistant position is currently available in the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CoHASS).

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating and running research projects
  • Work closely with collaborators and third party service providers in conducting research
  • Help with data collection for projects related to international politics in East Asia
  • Conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative data analyses for projects and journal publications
  • Research and writing of short reports on specific developments, trends, patterns in the international politics of East Asia
  • Actively contribute to preparation of manuscript drafts for peer-reviewed journals

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in humanities and social sciences related field
  • Extensive media experience as well as the subject interest (Islam in Indonesia and Malaysia)
  • Demonstrated experience in research writing through publications in Asian/Malaysian politics, screen writing, research and journalism (Writing samples must be provided)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience in quantitative data analysis using relevant statistical tools (e.g. SPSS, AMOS)
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated and willing to work independently in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Interest in Sino-US relations, international relations of Southeast Asia, and/or regional trade

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
