The Department for Anthropology and Philosophy at the Philosophical Faculty I of the Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg, invites applications for the position of a tenured

Professor for Social and Cultural Anthropology (W3)

(d/f/m)

The responsibilities of the position include teaching of social and cultural anthropology in breadth and depth. We expect a distinct research profile within mobility studies on human-human and human-environment socialities, which complements our expertise in political, legal and economic anthropology. The candidates must have a record of intensive ethnographic research outside Africa and Europe, preferably in maritime contexts.

The candidate is expected to participate in and contribute to all aspects of the teaching programme of the Institute. The main teaching language is German. We also expect her/him to cooperate with the university's research network “Society and Culture in Motion” and with the "Centre for Interdisciplinary Area Studies".

Further duties and responsibilities are stipulated in section 34 of the Law on Universities of the State of Saxony-Anhalt. Applicants must fulfill the pre-conditions of appointment as stipulated in section 35 of the Law on Universities of the State of Saxony-Anhalt. Particular emphasis is placed on the relevant Habilitation or an equivalent level of scientific achievement and recognition. Furthermore, it is expected that the candidate will have attained the appropriate level of experience or qualification in teaching.
