Description
As part of the Computational and Applied Mathematics Initiative at the University of Chicago, the Department of Statistics invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. The University of Chicago has recently established an undergraduate major and new Ph.D. program in Computational and Applied Mathematics. We seek individuals doing advanced research in computational and applied mathematics or in related fields.
Members of the faculty in our department are expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels of the program and mentor doctoral students. The University of Chicago has the highest standards for scholarship and faculty quality, is dedicated to fundamental research, and values interdisciplinary collaboration that is very supportive of newly emerging research opportunities; appointments may be made jointly with another department in the University.
Qualifications
By the time of hire candidates must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. in some field of mathematics, statistics, or computer science.
A demonstrated research record appropriate to the rank is essential; teaching experience in the mathematical sciences is preferred.
