The School of Arts & Social Sciences is an internationally excellent centre of research and learning on the human condition in all its dimensions. It is a large and vibrant School with around 3,000 students (one third postgraduate) and over 250 staff across seven departments. The School aims to attract outstanding members of academic staff who will produce world-leading research of benefit to society; provide innovative and exciting programmes of study; and enrich the lives and enhance the career prospects of its students.
The School of Arts & Social Sciences are now looking to appoint an experienced Course Officer within the Academic Services team on a 5 month fixed term or secondment basis.
Responsibilities
The Course Officer is responsible for managing the day to day operations and administration of the course(s). They will ensure the provision of an efficient and professional service to students and academic staff associated with the course; working closely with relevant Professional Staff and the Course Director.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent written, organisational, analytical and time-management skills. They will have exceptional written and oral communication skills, with experience of working with customers face-to-face and on the telephone with a 'customer-centred' approach. Strong IT skills including MS Excel, Word, e-mail and internet are essential. A good knowledge of SITS is also desirable.
We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in the HE sector in a similar role.
