Description
The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Emergency Medicine, seeks to appoint an Emergency Medicine International Medical Education Scholar. Appointment will be as a Clinical Associate at 100% effort for a two-year term. The appointee will receive training in Global Health and Medical Education while working clinically as an attending in our emergency department at a reduced effort, and five months per year of international field time. We especially welcome applicants with an interest in International Emergency Medicine and Medical Education development and in developing emergency care and Emergency Medicine training programs in low-income countries. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent on qualifications. The University of Chicago Medicine is an Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, a receiving hospital for STEMI, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, a Burn Center, and a Chicago South EMS regional resource hospital. The Adult ED has an annual volume of 75,000 patients per year.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine, and 4) have completed an ACGME-approved residency or equivalent.
