ELECTRIC POWER SYSTEMS CENTER POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATEMIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), to assume a position in the area of energy systems optimization, with a focus on natural gas impact and implications. Will work with MITEI researchers to study the role of natural gas in future low-carbon electricity systems under uncertain technology, policy, and fuel price scenarios. The responsibilities will include developing/improving power system optimization models to assess long-term system evolution under policy and technology-driven uncertainty, incorporating upstream constraints (e.g., gas infrastructure) related to gas-based power generation, and using the developed models to provide policy-relevant recommendations on the role of existing and new natural gas assets and emerging technologies (e.g., battery storage).

The position offers an opportunity to interact and work closely with researchers at MIT and be part of the MITEI’s Electric Power Systems (EPS) Low-Carbon Energy Center.
