FINANCIAL ASSISTANT 2, MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), to provide direct support to the fiscal officer. Responsibilities include reconciling accounts, monitoring activity in cost objects, performing account maintenance, researching discrepancies, and using discretion to resolve problems and complete transactions; monitoring and correcting account transaction activity, providing regular projections on account expenditures; responding to and making telephone, email, and in-person inquiries from internal and external contacts; maintaining records and files; assisting fiscal officer with the preparation of proposals and budgets and processing interim budget adjustments; preparing and processing requisitions, processing invoices, preparing journal vouchers, verifying credit card charges, and approving financial documents; serving as a resources of faculty staff and students on financial transactions and as a backup for peer financial assistants during absences.
REQUIRED: at least three years of financial or accounting experience; excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills; ability to set priorities; meticulous attention to detail; proactive approach to work; ability to multitask, work under the pressure of deadlines, deal with frequent interruptions, and work both independently and in team-oriented environments; willingness to assume responsibility and take initiative while working with a diverse group of people; and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word and willingness to learn new software.
PREFERRED: familiarity with SAP, Cognos, and Kuali Coeus; MIT experience; and a bachelor degree. Job #18647-5
