The Princeton Neuroscience Institute is looking for a Research Specialist II to provide laboratory administration and technical support in our Viral and Genetic Neuroengineering Lab. The research specialist should have strong technical skills, experience with biosafety level 2 (BSL2) cell culture, recombinant virus construction (AAV, Herpesvirus, Lentivirus), fluorescent microscopy, qPCR, cloning, western blot, bacterial transformation and cell transfection.

Responsibilities include help with research on new viral tools, maintaining laboratory stocks, documents, protocols, overseeing equipment use and repair and other lab maintenance as required.

This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain tissue culture cell lines, grow and concentrate viral stocks, clone and prepare plasmids for viral production.
  • Maintainlaboratory stocks, protocols, oversee equipment use and repair and other lab maintenance as required.
  • Help with research projects to improve viral vectors.

Qualifications

Masters or Professional Degree (MBA, JD, etc) in a related field plus 1-3 years’ experience. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, experience with biosafety level 2 (BSL2) cell culture, recombinant virus construction (AAV, Herpesvirus, Lentivirus), fluorescent microscopy, PCR, cloning, western blot, bacterial transformation and cell transfection.
