Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neonatology, is searching for a full-time senior faculty member. The appointee will provide coverage at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital NICU and contracted off-site locations. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. We especially welcome applicants with expertise and/or formal training in quality improvement, ECMO, outcomes research, or analysis of structured EMR data. Clinical experience suitable for administering/directing a level IV neonatal intensive care nursery in a large tertiary center is preferred.  Opportunities for leadership may be available to candidates with appropriate skills and experience.  Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The Section of Neonatology is committed to excellence in education, research, patient care and community service.  It has 15 full-time faculty members and other academic staff who attend the 71 bed unit in Comer Children's Hospital and two community hospitals to provide compassionate, evidence-based treatments in nurturing, family-centered environments with state-of-the-art equipment. In collaboration with the Maternal-Fetal Service, the Section runs the University of Chicago Perinatal Network with more than 10 affiliated community hospitals.  The Section has a fully accredited fellowship program with 10 trainees and a robust neonatal nurse practitioner program. Its faculty members are actively involved in research supported by federal and other extramural grants.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the States of Illinois and Indiana, 3) be Board certified or eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, 4) have recent experience in intensive care of newborns, and 5) qualify for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
