This position will support the operations of the new Outdoor Field robotics capability. You will be assisting in the maintenance of the inventory and audit trail for the facility’s robotics equipment, as well as assisting with general assembly and maintenance.  Alongside this, you will be expected to fully support research activities, ensuring that facilities, robotics and associated equipment are prepared for experimentation and are compliant with relevant Health and Safety and other legislative policy requirements. You will also carry out specialised techniques and train others in these and essential core functions.

The ideal candidate will be customer focussed with a strong eye for detail. Preferably with experience of working in a customer facing research type environment. A strong organisational approach and a good foundation of knowledge is expected in both electronic and mechanical design and assembly techniques. You will have a desire to provide high quality technical support to help meet the goals of the project.

You should be able to demonstrate experience of helping to run a busy laboratory or workshop space including inventory management. You should have evidenced experience of hands on work in both electronic assembly and mechanical assembly and be sufficiently confident in them to explain these skills to others in a teaching environment.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to further your career in both laboratory management and in the support of advanced research. Although beneficial, no field robotics experience is required and training will be provided, where required, for the right candidate.

This role will be based at Bristol University Queen’s building initially but will require some working in the future at our field robotics facility at Long Ashton.

The post is offered on a full-time open ended contract with funding for up to 3 years, and the university offers flexible working and a very generous leave entitlement.
