We are now seeking to appoint a University Clerk to lead our governance, compliance and legal activities. The University Clerk is the senior governance officer in the University and acts as a trusted adviser to the Board, the Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, providing a link between governance and executive functions. The University Clerk also leads the University’s governance, legal and compliance and health and safety teams, responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with the requirements of the Office for Students, and other regulators which are active in the higher education sector.
Our ideal candidate will have board-level governance advisory experience and a background in managing legal and compliance services – preferably in higher education. Outstanding communication skills, judgement and knowledge of governance and compliance matters are essential. Our successful candidate will also be an experienced manager with strong analytical abilities, and will be confident and influential in board settings and when working with senior colleagues.
