Applications are invited for a permanent or 3 year post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Food Science & Nutrition within UCD School of Agriculture & Food Science

The appointee will join a team of 18 full-time academics within the Section who offer a diverse portfolio of education programmes including an online MSc in Food, Nutrition & Health and BSc programmes in Food Science and Human Nutrition. The successful candidate will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of the online MSc programme and will teach modules in a number of programmes.

Candidates should have a strong scientific background and specific expertise in the areas of Food Regulation and Food Policy. The role will require the development of innovative approaches to delivery and assessment of modules including continuing professional development (CPD, or Executive Education) modules for the food industry. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop and build a research programme which complements the ongoing research and teaching within the Food Science & Nutrition group, the School and the UCD Institute of Food & Health.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who has demonstrated aptitude, commitment and passion for teaching, with research expertise in a relevant area. Candidates must havea science background, a PhD, a demonstrated capacity to carry out research, excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, and teaching experience. The appointee will complement and engage actively with current academic staff in the Section, School and wider UCD community, and make a significant contribution to teaching, research and university life. The successful applicant will be offered a 3 year temporary contract or a permanent post depending on his/her abilities and experience as assessed by the Interview Board.

95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above the Bar Salary Scale: €53,773 - €84,544 per annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guideline
