The University of Chicago: Biological Sciences Division: Department of Pediatrics

Location: Chicago, IL

Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for a tenure-track assistant professor, and invites applications. We seek applicants pursuing research on child-based health, especially genetics, genomics, host defense, health outcomes and related areas.

At The University of Chicago, we are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The University is a vibrant center of scientific discovery and innovation, and opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration are abundant, both within and outside the Biological Sciences Division. The Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center, are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago’s Hyde Park. Appointees will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities and to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences. Competitive research space and start-up funding will be available, as will the potential for interactions with our affiliates, Argonne National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory. Leadership opportunities are available for highly experienced applicants. Primary appointments will be in the Department of Pediatrics although we anticipate that appointees will develop close interactions with other departments, divisions, and institutes at the University of Chicago, Argonne National Laboratory, and/or the Marine Biological Laboratory as part of an effort to strengthen and diversify a collegial group that is interested in major questions relevant to the advancement of human health. We especially welcome applications from physician-scientists.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent, and postdoctoral training. To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago’s Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/62548. Applicants must upload: CV including bibliography, research statement. Review of complete applications will begin 23 May 2019 and continue until the position is filled.
