Would you like to be part of delivering our ambitious plans?

We are a world top 100 University – we have also moved up the UK league tables since 2019, making the University of Glasgow the 14th ranked University in the UK according to the Guardian University Guide 2020.

As part of our ambitious plans, the University has launched an exciting transformation programme: World Changing Glasgow Transformation (WCGT) to support the delivery of our strategic ambitions; this also involves a major construction programme comprising new build and refurbishment work.

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Director of Planning and Deputy Secretary. In this critical role, you will lead and manage an integrated planning, insight and analytics function, providing a holistic, fit-for-purpose planning and information service to help the University achieve its strategic goals.  You will provide expert analysis of key data, including institutional performance and market positioning, as well as a structured approach to horizon scanning, and proactive provision of key management information across the whole range of the University’s business. In addition, as Deputy Secretary, you will deputise for the COO and University Secretary as required and actively contribute to the development of University Services’ strategy and objectives.

You will be an inspiring leader with the ability to integrate and lead a diverse team of staff to the highest professional standards ideally gained within large, complex organisations. You will possess strong numeracy, statistical, IT, analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a high level of oral and written communication skills.  Proven, extensive experience of, and expertise in, preparing strategic plans and monitoring performance against key targets is essential.

You will have the gravitas, influencing and people skills to effect change and provide advice to the senior management group.  With a strong customer service focus, you will develop and maintain internal and external relationships to deliver innovative solutions ensuring a consistent, proactive approach across the University.
