COORDINATOR OF EXPERIMENTAL PRACTICEMIT Museum, to support activities devoted to advancing MIT Museum’s portfolio of work involving experimental practices in public engagement. The Experimental Practice team, led by the manager of experimental practice, fosters, implements, and evaluates creative approaches to civic engagement in science and other areas relevant to the museum’s work that has broader implications for practitioners in the fields of informal education and community engagement. The Experimental Practice team is part of the Department of Engagement and interfaces with other museum departments. While the portfolio of projects is grounded in the work of the museum, many projects are grant-funded and include partners at different sites and with a range of audiences in multiple settings. Much of this work is conducted via collaborations with organizations throughout North America and abroad.  A major focus of this position will be attending to professional relationships and networks external to the museum, and coordinating and supporting work undertaken with numerous collaborators.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; three years of relevant experience; experience working on projects that involve many inputs, outcomes, and collaborators; experience tracking project activity, including spending; excellent organizational, interpersonal, networking, and verbal and written communication skills; experience with the production of professional meetings, workshops, and/or networking events; and demonstrated attention to the details that make in-person meetings effective and memorable. Must be fluent with website content and database management, skilled at generating a professional social media presence, and experienced with customizing online subscription services. Job #18729-6
