Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in Epidemiology/Biostatistics in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 500156), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in artificial intelligence, big data or other related disciplines. They should have a strong quantitative background; experience in analysing statistical data using MATLAB, R or other packages; demonstrated expertise in the analysis of large and complex datasets; excellent written and oral communication skills; and the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Relevant post-doctoral work experience in the areas of artificial intelligence and/or infectious disease research, and an excellent track record of publications and grants would be advantages.
The appointee will be primarily responsible for applied and methodological work in a Big Data Laboratory, and technology transfer of advanced artificial intelligence in the field of infectious disease research. He/She will also oversee junior research staff and students; develop research programs independently; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; and assist in general administrative, operational and other duties as assigned. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
