Job Details
School of Materials Science and Engineering invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough literature review and generate periodic updates and reports
- Processing and characterization of natural biomaterials
- Carry out 2D and 3D cell culture
- Use various characterization techniques (Immunoblotting, PCR, Imaging) to understand cell-material interactions
- Develop and optimize protocols
- Supervise junior research staff, undergraduate and graduate student projects
- Manage logistical issues and laboratory inventory
- Coordinate collaborative work with clinicians and collaborators
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Biology Sciences/Bioengineering/Materials Science or related fields
- Experience in mammalian cell culture, confocal/fluorescence microscopy and studying cell-material interactions
- Knowledge in Immunoblotting and PCR based techniques, biological sample TEM and 3D scaffold fabrication preferred
- Good communication and writing skills
- Good coordination skills to facilitate external collaborations
- Able to plan and execute experiments with minimal supervision
- Able to design experiments for quick troubleshooting
- Able to organize well and adhere to deadlines

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.
The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility:
• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university.
Terms and Conditions:
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
