- Support stakeholders to ensure the delivery of research, teaching and scholarly activities.

The Durham Centre for Academic Development (DCAD) seeks to appoint a talented individuals to the role of either Digital Learning Designer or Senior Digital Learning Designer. We welcome applications from those with experience of developing online inclusive content to support student learning.
Our Digital Learning Designers will make a significant contribution to the development of Durham’s Digital Learning Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with academic staff in the University to consult and offer support and advice on implementing high quality online learning activities to support Durham’s diverse student community both in terms of online and distance learning.
Senior Digital Learning Designers will make a significant contribution to the development of Durham’s Digital Learning Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and subject expertise to academic staff in the University, being responsible for this activity across various areas. The postholder will consult, support and advise staff on implementing high quality online learning activities to support Durham’s diverse student community both in terms of online and distance learning.
We are therefore seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team with significant general experience of online learning design and development, training (both 1:2:1 and workshop) and with a specialism in scholarly approaches to online learning development. Creativity, playfulness, and experimentation are core to the DCAD mission and we are seeking individuals who share our passion for innovative and novel approaches to learning enhancement.

Recruiting to this post
Please submit a CV and a statement evidencing key criteria only:
- Ability to provide specialist advice and support to academics on the design of engaging and inclusive online learning materials and programmes.
- Experience of designing and delivering training and development to staff in aspects of digital pedagogy and course design, both face-to-face and online.
- Strong communication skills with experience of working as part of a team and engaging academic staff at all levels.
- Deep understanding of the pedagogy of online learning, the process of online course design, and the technical tools required for implementation.
- Ability to operate effectively in a rapidly changing and uncertain environment, developing new knowledge and skills as required
- Experience of having designed and created online and digital programmes.
- Engagement in scholarship of teaching and learning through doctoral study or other research, and scholarly publication.
- Experience of having led projects in the design and development of online and digital programmes.
It is anticipated that interviews will be held w/c 1st June 2020.
Given the current Covid-19 situation, we are open, for our fixed-term roles, to those who cannot relocate to Durham, but who are willing to work at distance and online as an active and key member of the DCAD team
