We are seeking a candidate who will join us as a Research Fellow in the Division of Physics and Applied Physics, School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS).

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage lab and project issues, including equipment procurement, reimbursement, and other related paperwork
  • Carry out research activities related to 2D material fabrications and thin film depositions by using thermal evaporation, electron beam evaporation, etc
  • Conduct materials characterization and related optical properties measurements
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment including electron beam evaporator, optical microscope, probe station, etc

Job Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in either material science or applied physics from well-established universities/institutes
  • Highly motivated in multidisciplinary research
  • Experience in 2D materials, including material synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical measurements
  • Ability to operate electron microscopies (SEM and TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal evaporation, electron beam evaporation, optical microscope, probe station, and related data analysis
  • Good communication skills
  • Work independently as well as have teamwork

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
