We are seeking to appoint a candidate with an excellent track record in leading technology-enhanced education in a relevant discipline to become Director of Online Programmes for the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy, King’s College London. The appointment will be at Senior Lecturer level on the College Academic Education Pathway (AEP). This role will focus primarily on online teaching and enhancing online educational quality in the Faculty.
As Director of Online Programmes, the appointed candidate will lead and ensure the delivery of an excellent standard of online educational provision and student experience, with support of the Vice Dean, Education and Professional Services staff. An early project is likely to be the launch of a new online Master’s programme in Public Policy in the Department of Political Economy. Following this launch, and in collaboration with King’s online, the role-holder will develop a portfolio of online programmes across the Faculty.
The Academic Education Pathway is focused on the delivery of education, education-related scholarship and leadership in education. It creates a clear pathway for recognition, reward and opportunities for advancement for exceptional educators. The role offers significant opportunities for progression on the Academic Education Pathway as the incumbent will be able to lead the Faculty in innovative education techniques, e.g. blended learning and flipped classroom approach, building on their experience of online delivery.
We expect the appointed candidate to be a fully engaged member of the Faculty and their ‘home’ School / Department, contributing to the latter’s teaching online and/or face-to-face. The appointed candidate will be assigned to teach on their Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, and is expected to supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
