The University of Saskatchewan (USask) is one of Canada’s top research-intensive, medical doctoral universities in Canada and is home to world-leading research in areas of global importance, such as infectious diseases, and water and food security.

Through national and global collaborations, the University of Saskatchewan is working to find solutions to pressing societal and scientific challenges. Academic programming and discovery are enhanced by outstanding facilities, including the Canadian Light Source synchrotron, VIDO-Intervac, the Global Institute for Food Security, the Global Institute for Water Security and the Sylvia Fedoruk Canadian Centre for Nuclear Innovation.
Against this impressive backdrop, USask is looking to appoint its next Provost and Vice-President Academic. Reporting directly to the President, the Provost and Vice-President Academic plays a critical and integrative role in the establishment and achievement of the strategic directions and academic priorities of the University. The role provides institution-level leadership to a wide range of senior administrative positions across the University, including members of the President’s Executive Committee, Deans and Executive Directors of 17 Colleges and Schools, and heads of other major senior administrative units. The Provost and Vice-President Academic also provides leadership to a diverse academic community of more than 60 Department Heads, 1,000 faculty members, and professional and administrative staff across the University.
The successful candidate will be an exceptional scholar and administrator who brings significant experience of academic leadership within a complex and globally engaged research institution. A proven and influential leader who appreciates and encourages innovation in all forms, the successful candidate will have outstanding academic credentials, a distinguished record of scholarship and university administration, and a deep commitment to diversity, inclusion and reconciliation.
