STRATEGIC INITIATIVES ADVISOR 2Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), to lead strategic partnership development by developing collaborations between J-PAL and strategic partners based on evaluating promising social programs, catalyzing use of evidence, and capacity building.  Will develop and help execute high-value evidence dissemination opportunities (e.g., workshops, presentations, and meetings) with partners in the DC area; provide strategic advice to executive director and director of policy and communications, the Innovation in Government Initiative team at J-PAL Global, and J-PAL regional offices to improve J-PAL’s strategy to translate evidence into action; advise on scaling strategies for particular interventions; and work with J-PAL Global to identify opportunities to raise money for research, policy, and capacity building. Will serve as a focal point for donors and multilaterals in DC and be part of the J-PAL senior management team. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in economics, public policy, or closely related field that included coursework in microeconomics, econometrics, and development economics; seven years’ relevant work experience, including postgraduate training in the fields of public policy, international development, and economics; ability to interact with very high-level contacts in public policy and media (e.g., senior functionaries in developing country governments, NGOs, foundations, multilateral aid agencies, and press); comfort learning computer applications, including Salesforce; detail-orientation; strong writing and strategic thinking skills; self-motivation; understanding of and ability to communicate policy lessons from technical academic research in ways that policymakers/practitioners understand; and ability to handle multiple projects at once with little supervision, meet deadlines, effectively manage time; work in teams, and collaborate with supervisor to create goals and work towards them independently while leveraging key staff across various offices. Job #18721-11
