A MRC-funded post-doctoral position in Structural Biology is available from 1st October 2020 at the School of Biochemistry, University of Bristol.  As part of a dynamic team, you will study the structure and function of large macromolecular complexes in gene expression control.

The project involves structure determination by crystallography and single-particle electron cryo-microscopy of multi-protein complexes produced in insect cells (MultiBac technology) or mammalian cells, their purification and biochemical characterization.

The position requires a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Structural Biology or a related field. You have experience in guiding structure determination projects from start to finish. Experience in electron cryo-microscopy and image processing or crystallography is required. You are a highly motivated, committed individual who enjoys working as part of a highly dynamic, collaborative and multidisciplinary team and good communication skills.  Experience with protein production using baculovirus-insect cell expression or mammalian cell culture is a definite plus.

You will be based in the Berger-Schaffitzel (lead) laboratory in a highly collaborative setup including the Berger (Bristol) and Laue groups (Univ. of Cambridge).
