About the opportunity 

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will design and manage projects in time series signal processing and deep learning, medical devices, implanted bioelectronics, neuromodulation, bioimpedance and tissue stimulation.  This will also involve the supervision of HDR students, reporting, ethics, publishing, collaboration with industrial partners, other teams in the ITTC centre, school and University. The management of workplace health and safety, intellectual property, laboratory spaces and equipment, medical device regulations documentation, computing code and computing resources.

About you

  • completed (or near completion) a PhDin medical sciences, physics or engineering is required
  • experience in electronic biosensors, implants, data analytics and computational modelling
  • demonstrated success in the publication of high-impact work in internationally recognised peer- reviewed journals

About us

The Faculty of Engineering is the fourth largest of the University’s teaching entities with 430 staff across a faculty administration unit and seven  schools: School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, School of Electrical and Information Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Biomedical Engineering and School of Project Management. The School of Biomedical Engineering offers the Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Biomedical) and has a student body of almost 400 students. The School supports teaching and research activities across disciplines including tissue engineering, design of therapeutic devices such as bionic limbs for the injured and people with disabilities; external medical devices such as medical imaging equipment and augmented reality technology, as well as data-oriented solutions such as e-medicine, help doctors diagnose and treat patients.
