Job Description Summary

The Senior Data Research Specialist at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Social Norms and Behavioral Dynamics will be responsible for a range of interdisciplinary research activities having to do with social norms and behavior around the world.

Job Description

Duties:

Collaborate with other researchers to study collective behaviors such as open defecation, corruption, child marriage, burnout, and others. As part of these research activities, the Research Scientist will review literature, gather and analyze data (primarily survey data), summarize results in research reports and academic articles, and disseminate findings. Develops relationships with existing and potential funders, research partners, research sites, regulatory offices and affiliated organizations as part of stakeholder management. He/she will attend meetings and conferences as needed and will supervise and train other research staff. The Research Specialist would also be responsible for teaching 3 classes per year for the University of Pennsylvania’s Master of Behavioral and Decision Sciences. 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would have high-level training in statistics and a PhD in demography and/or sociology. The candidate should be familiar with advanced social network analysis, survey design and analysis, sampling theory, and demographic forecasting techniques. The candidate should have experience training and overseeing data collection personnel and presenting academic findings to a wide range of stakeholders.
