Overview

The Department of Psychology at Princeton University invites applications for a full-time Research Specialist position. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2020. This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance. This position may be ideal for highly motivated college graduates considering graduate school in psychology or related disciplines.

Responsibilities

The position involves conducting research on behavioral decision-making and on cognition in social contexts (PI’s: Eldar Shafir and Alin Coman). As part of the lab, the research specialist will assist with different aspects of research, including recruitment of participants and the collection of behavioral data (both on and off campus), data coding, entry and analysis, preparation of manuscripts for publication and other lab duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Requires minimum BA or BS degree in Psychology or other social science field or discipline
  • At least one year of research experience in a psychology laboratory that involved behavioral data collection, data entry and analysis constitute key assets.
  • Familiarity with at least one software package for statistical analysis (e.g., SPSS, R) is desired.
  • Strong computer skills, including programming, are preferred.

Orientation to detail, conscientiousness, and genuine interest to pursue psychological research are qualities that are critical to perform well in this position.
