Research Assistant Professor in Experimental Particle Astrophysics - 2020
Applications are invited for a Research Assistant Professor appointment in the Enrico Fermi Institute of the University of Chicago to work in the field of experimental particle astrophysics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on several projects, including ultra-high energy neutrino experiments, such as ANITA, ARA, and a new effort in Greenland. The term of the appointment will be for 3 years with the possibility of renewal.
Education: A doctoral degree in physics or a related field is required.
Experience: A minimum of three years of related experimental experience, beyond PhD training, is required. Expertise in radio signal processing, analysis of large data sets, radio-frequency detector design and Monte Carlo simulation, and particle astrophysics is required. Experience with long-duration balloon payloads and deployment of instrumentation to remote polar regions is desired. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to train others is required. Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
