The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Critical Care, is searching for a full-time faculty member at any rank. The appointee will provide coverage for the Comer Children's Hospital PICU and Pediatric Sedation Service. We especially welcome applicants who could contribute to scholarship in a field relevant to clinical practice, medical education, quality improvement, and/or policy-based interventions in pediatric critical care. Leadership positions may be available to appointees with appropriate skills or experience. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.
The Section of Pediatric Critical Care has 16 full-time faculty members, a fully-accredited fellowship program with 9 PCCM fellows, and supports a 30-bed PICU, which supports a pediatric level I trauma center. The PICU admits approximately 1800 patients per year. The Section also runs the Pediatric Sedation and Palliative Care Services. Faculty scholarship in the section is broad and includes excellence in clinical research, medical education, quality improvement, simulation, biomedical ethics, palliative care, and pediatric sedation.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be Board certified or eligible in pediatric critical care medicine. Selection will consider experience in care for complex and critically ill infants, children and adolescents.
