ASSISTANT DEAN, FRATERNITIES, SORORITIES, AND INDEPENDENT LIVING GROUPSDean for Student Life-Fraternities, Sororities and Independent Living Groups (FSILG), to provide support, advice, and direction to MIT’s Panhellenic Association (Panhel), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), Living Group Council (LGC), and the individual chapters and living groups recognized under these governing councils, particularly in the areas of leadership, organizational development, and chapter/community programming.  Will work with Panhel’s seven sororities, MGC’s four fraternities and sororities, LGC’s five independent living groups, and their governing councils to strengthen the ongoing viability of the FSILG community and ensure the system offers programming that support MIT’s educational mission; empower students and alumni/ae organizations to responsibly approach issues of risk management and oversee daily chapter operations; offers support in the areas of recruitment and intake, event planning, organization activities, educational and officer training, crisis response, and effective communication between DSL and the FSILG community; and maximize student’s personal growth and leadership potential.

 Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree, preferably in college student personnel, higher education administration, or related field; three years’ experience working in higher education; strong adherence to best practices, including AFA core competencies, NASPA and ACPA professional competency areas for student affairs practitioners, and CAS standards; excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, conflict resolution, leadership training, and public speaking skills; good judgment and sensitivity when relating to students of various backgrounds; and team and service-orientations.  Must be able to multitask, adapt to change in a fast-paced setting, articulate a student development philosophy in a high intensity academic environment, and collaborate with students/alumni/administration/local officials.  PREFERRED:  master’s degree and an appreciation for the value of the fraternal/sorority experience as a component of the college educational experience.  Job #18542-8
