Job Description Summary

Seeking ideal candidate (Certified Vet Tech or eligible to sit for VTNE) whom has a strong interest in Ophthalmology and is self motivated and enthusiastic self starter to work closely with veterinarian performing Ophthalmology procedures in the dog model to evaluate visual function.

Candidate will be trained to perform:

  • Electroretinography (ERG)
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
  • Confocal Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy (CSLO)
  • Other Ophthamological procedures as required.
  • Candidate must have experience performing anesthesia in dogs (induction to extubation). Transfer data collected to excel spreadsheets. Position located in Kennett Sq., no public trans. avail.

Job Description

  • Candidate will be trained to perform:
  • Electroretinography (ERG)
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
  • Confocal Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy (CSLO)
  • Other Ophthamological procedures as required.

Perform anesthesia in dogs for routine cases, including IV catheter placement, induction, intubation, evaluation of anesthetic depth, extubation, medication administration, maintenance and recovery. 

Requires computer skills and the ability to transfer data results to excel spreadsheets.

Provide on call assistance on weekends as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

An Associate’s or Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA Accredited school. Certified Veterinary Technician or eligible to sit for the VTNE within 1 year of hire. 1-2 years experience as a vet tech. Flexible schedule and ability to multi-task. Requires meticulous organization and planning skills. Must have good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently. Will adhere to IACUC, USDA and ARIES protocols.  Position contingent upon grant funding.  Position located in Kennett Square, PA with NO transportation available.Candidate must have experience performing anesthesia in dogs (induction to extubation). Transfer data collected to excel spreadsheets.
